Roadside Jesus' Periodic Table of Rockin'

http://roadsidejesus.com/periodic/ptableHola.html

I think I want to make this into a cross stitch pattern. I would love to have this hanging on my wall. Thoughts?

*Mucho thanks to Roadside Jesus for his awesome Table. Visit his site at roadsidejesus.com. Many questions will be answered.

Baby Cons!!! AHHHH!!

As I mentioned more than once, I suck at knitting. My mom, however, is amazing. We worked together on these adorable baby Converse booties for my friend Candice's baby Molly. My mom has continued on with making these because they are a super way to use up scrap yarn and I think she probably has about 30 pairs done in every color you can think of!!

Here is baby Molly modeling her new booties. She is still too little for them to really fit her, but maybe by this fall!!

And here are some Mary Janes that we whipped up:

In Progress Sampler

Finally, after all those posts in a row, I am caught up to where I want to be. If I find pictures of old things I've made I will add them, but I think all that stuff was my surplus. Now I will only be posting about once every week or two. Cross stitching takes a lot of time!!

I am now working on a super colorful Turkish sampler. There are 15 different colors and designs in this piece, and I'm about a third of the way done. Here is an in-progress picture. I'll post in another week or so with my progress!

A Baby Bib!

I work for a police department. Two of my coworkers (both officers) are expecting a little boy at the end of August, so I made this police bib for little nugget. Hopefully I will get a picture of nugget wearing this bib once he makes his appearance, and if it's OK with my friends I will certainly post a picture!! I finished this one last week.

Oh Flowers.

As I previously mentioned, I love colorful designs. Here are a couple things I made with a flower theme.

I love the look of old seed packets. Expect to see more of these in the future from me!

Here is the first of two stained glass-themed flower portraits. I hope to have the other one done some time this month.

Asian Designs

Another one of my favorite things to work on are Asian-themed designs. Things with koi, cherry blossoms, geishas and the like are super fun to work on. I also love to do things that are very colorful. Here are a few designs I've done that fit both!

Cancer Sucks Fuck Everything

My friend Schulte wrote to me a while back and told me that he was organizing a benefit for people with cancer. He asked me if I would make something that said "Fuck Cancer" that they could auction off. I said of course, and started designing and stitching. A short time after I started working on it, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. How's that for irony? Long story short, my dad is OK now and I don't know if Schulte ever held his benefit. I DID manage to finish this charming little design.

Welcome!!!

Welcome signs can be really fun to make. They don't have to be super old-lady looking! Here are a couple welcome signs that I made.

The first one is one I made for our house and just never framed for some reason. I liked all the colors in it.

And of course, since Halloween is my favorite holiday, I had to make a Halloween one. This is not finished yet, I still have to do the backstitching (outlines).

Any other ideas for a cool welcome sign?

Some Gifts For People

I give away a lot more things than I keep when it comes to cross stitching. Cross stitched items make great gifts! The following pictures are of things that I remembered to take pictures of before I gave them away.

This is a custom album cover I cross stitched for Cody (it's his band). This was a Christmas present from a few years ago.

This is the pattern for a full sheet of music that I made for my friend Joel a few years back. I forgot to take a picture of the actual item I made, but it looks very much like this pattern.

This was a bookmark I made for a coworker's mother-in-law. Religious imagery is not really my thing, but this one was a challenge. I believe there were about 22 shades of brown/tan/cream colors.

No explanation is really needed for this one! I made this for Crybaby Mike because he does a fantastic Billy Mays impression! The frame job was not so good, but I think it turned out really good!

Other Things I Make...

Although cross stitching is my favorite craft activity, there are some other things that I dabble in.

I like making resin jewelry, and have participated in a few craft fairs with my stuff. Here is a picture of my set up when I go to them:

Here is a close-up of a necklace pendant that I made. I make pendants, rings, bracelets, magnets, and more.

I also like to crochet. I learned this about 20 years ago too. For the longest time, all I made were scarves and blankets. I finally figured out how to do Amigurumi, which is the Japanese art of crocheting (or knitting) tiny cute animals. Here is an unfinished octopus that I started. He just needs eyes!

The latest thing that I've tried is making pretty hair flowers. Here are a few that I made:

And finally, just because, here is what my craft closet looks like.

The Business

My best friend Lindsey and I decided to start a custom cross stitch business some time ago. We haven't done a lot with it lately, admittedly, but we both still stitch all the time and will still take orders if there is something you want made!

Here are a couple of our logos:

We did a consignment at Kansas City Kitty, and here are a couple pictures from that:

And here is the very first thing we made for someone (at his request):

An Explanation...

Hello, fellow crafters. Welcome to my blog. In this blog I am going to keep track of the different things that I have made. There are a lot of things that I simply forgot to take pictures of, but for the things I DO have, expect to see lots of pictures! I will talk about what I'm currently making, what I want to make, craft things I want to buy, etc.

A little bit about me: I have been crafting (especially cross stitching) since I was in elementary school when my Great Aunts showed me how. (Love you Betty and Mary!) Early on, I realized that I really liked this art form, since I can't draw or paint worth a damn. I found something I was good at and stuck to it. After not-so-brief breaks to graduate high school and college, I am much more consistent with my crafting now. I try to work at least an hour a night on SOMETHING. I cross stitch, crochet, make jewelry, and am always open to learning new things. I plan on quilting soon, and I want to once again tackle knitting (since it didn't stick the first ten times I tried to learn).

In the following posts I will show you things I've made spanning a great deal of time. If you want to know anything about what I have made, just ask. I will try to remember to indicate if the design is one of my own or someone else's. In these first couple days expect numerous posts so that I can catch up and have all my pictures on here. After that, I will post when I have finished something, and I will also try to post some things that I have in progress.

If anyone has any suggestions for something to make, let me know! I always like hearing other's ideas. You never know, I just might make what you suggest!

Thank you for reading,
Alisha
